If your pet needs surgery, you can feel confident they are in experienced hands. Our fully equipped surgical theatre, modern anaesthetic monitoring and dedicated nursing team allow us to perform a wide range of procedures right here in Narre Warren.

What to expect on the day

Your pet is admitted in the morning and examined by the vet. We recommend a pre-anaesthetic blood test to check that their organs are healthy. During surgery a qualified nurse monitors their heart rate, breathing, oxygen levels and blood pressure. Every patient receives pain relief, and we keep them warm and comfortable as they wake up.

We will call you as soon as your pet is in recovery, and go through all of the home care instructions when you collect them.

Frequently asked questions

Does my pet need to fast before surgery?

Most adult dogs and cats should have no food after 8pm the night before surgery. Water is fine until the morning. We will give you specific instructions when you book.

Will my pet be in pain?

Pain relief is given before, during and after every procedure, and we send pain relief home when it is needed.

Why do you recommend a pre-anaesthetic blood test?

A blood test can reveal hidden problems with the liver or kidneys that affect how your pet handles anaesthetic. It helps us make surgery as safe as possible.
