Preparing your pet for international travel

Australia is free of rabies, but many countries require dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies before they arrive. Some destinations also require a rabies antibody blood test, and bringing your pet back into Australia has its own strict requirements.

Plan ahead

Export requirements vary by country and can take several months to complete. We recommend contacting us as early as possible and checking the current requirements with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the destination country. Many families also use a professional pet transport company to manage the process.
